Elijah Kang

Mr. Kang brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to YWCF.  He has several years of fundraising and volunteer management experiences, coordinating media relations, being involved in international research projects and corporate sponsorship solicitations in nonprofit organizations, both locally and internationally.  Elijah is passionate about our mission and has brought his professional experience and insight to our cause.  Some of his accolades include work at the United Way of Korea (UWK), he was a project planner for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and developed many projects by partnering with more than ten multinational and national corporations. Mr Kang was deeply involved in planning and implementation of ‘Korea Cares Campaign’, the most important year-end fundraising campaign. Prior to working at UWK, he worked at Habitat for Humanity Korea (HFHK). There, he planned, developed, and managed several national and international house-building projects, notably, he developed the master plan for the ‘Jimmy Carter Work Project 2001’, an international blitz build project for 120 homeless families in five regions.

Elvenia Gray-Sandiford

Elvenia brings her contagious passion for the empowerment of single mothers in our community.  Caring and compassionate, and a consummate professional, she embraces the need to provide counseling and encouragement to socially disadvantaged mothers.  She has been professionally involved with the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter for many years and has been a tireless advocate for women and children, serving on government panels while continually supporting educational programs and action.  A certified counselor working with abused women and children, Elvenia also served as a member of the Rosemary Brown Family Services Society Board of Directors.

Jacqueline Groves-Henry

With almost a decade of experience in Social Services, Jacqueline is committed to the needs of single mothers in Peel.  Her work with Region of Peel Outreach Program and Catholic Cross-Cultural Services has fueled her desire to improve the standard of living for these single parent families.  She continues to work with families and children that are at risk of becoming homeless as well as the homeless in Peel region.  Jacqueline has achieved her Bachelor of Social Work with areas of study including Crisis Intervention and Communication.  She brings her years of experience as a Family Service Worker with Peel Children's Aid society, giving her special insight in parent support and counselling. 

Debbie Robb

Debbie is a certified True Color and Life Skills adult education and staff development trainer with over ten years of experience.  Her commitment to helping others has led to professional engagements within the social services sector including St. Stephens Community House Toronto, Women's Counselling Referral & Education Centre Toronto, Salvation Army Womans Shelter and the YWCA of Greater Toronto.  Debbie has achieved her Honours Degree B.A; Major in Mass Communication and is passionate about helping single mothers who are looking for a new start to get on track with their education and life skills.   

Cynthia Varkonyi

Cynthia is a graduate of Centennial College's Office Administration Program and has several years of experience working with children.  She has worked on a variety of programs for children through years of service with the Hungarian Cultural Community Centre.  She is committed to helping children develop in the arts and offers her experience in music as a piano teacher coupled with her computer skills knowledge.  Her passion is to help single mothers cope with the challenges of raising children in a stimulating and safe environment.

Ann has over 20 years of experience working with diverse communities applying her strong expertise in fostering relationships and connecting people, organizations, government, faith groups, etc. She has many years of work experience in the educational system and as Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator for programs servicing families with young children. Her passion for building strong communities by advocating for families and youth has channeled her community work in fundraising, volunteer management, mentoring, community relations, presenter, which has earned her National Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship and Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award. Ann has an Honours Diploma in Community Worker-Outreach Development, certificates in Infant Mental Health, Infant Massage Teacher and Roots of Empathy Instructor, with credits towards a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
